Branch 79 Veteran Support
The Royal Canadian Legion is devoted to supporting all those who served our country and put their lives on the line for our freedoms and way of life.
In addition to directly assisting Veterans and their families with the disability claims process through Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), the Legion offers a variety of programs, resources and referrals to support Veteran health, transition to civilian life, financial assistance and well-being.
At Branch 79, the Branch Service Officer is available to meet and discuss any needs a Veteran or their family may have. Please feel free to contact the Simcoe Legion via the below information to make arrangements, in confidence, with the Branch Service Officer.
Branch 79 provides direct financial support to a number of reputable organizations who directly aid Veterans and their dependents. This includes: Leave The Streets Behind, Wounded Warriors Canada, Operation Service Dog, and the Commonwealth Ex-Services League.
Additional support may be provided with: VAC claims, mental health, PTSD, and financial aid. Branch 79 also provides assistance with Veteran funerals and burials which are coordinated through the Memorial Committee. The Veterans’ Plot at Oakwood Cemetery, Simcoe was established by Branch 79 in 1936 and is the resting place for over 300 servicemen and women.
